Staff Library roadshow at the Web 2.0 drop-in

Today the OULS Web 2.0 Working Party were holding a drop-in session at the RSL for people to stop by and learn how to use RSS feeds, how to keep track of their favourite web pages using Delicious, how to make their Twitter updates feed through to Facebook and much more.

Since the Staff Library’s geographical location is out of the centre of town and therefore not convenient for many people to visit, I decided to take the books to the people.  I chose 30 books relevant to web 2.0, the internet in general, and a few other recent acquisitions and took them along to the event.

The result? More than half of the books were borrowed, and I registered six new users for the library. Best of all, I was able to chat to people about the Staff Library – word of mouth is the best publicity.
